Papers relating to the administration of the department of bacteriology. Most of the subject matter concerns routine administration such as staff appointments, buildings and courses. The department was based at the Public Health Laboratory in York Place, Manchester. There is a also a small body of papers relating to the development of a clinical laboratory by the Manchester Royal Infirmary, which employed bacteriologists.
