File: Pro-Vice Chancellors

Scope and Content

The University appointed pro-vice chancellors from time to time to assist the Vice-Chancellor. By the 1980s and 1990s, their role was increasingly seen as an integral part of the University administration (for example, the PVCs would chair Senate sessional committees). The file deals with their appointments and allocation of duties (including minutes of the PVC appointment committees), the relationship between the PVCs and the deputy vice-chancellor (Sam Moore) in the period between Richmond's retirement and the appointment of Martin Harris, following the retirement of Mark Richmond, and appointment of Martin Harris. The file includes a paper by Sam Moore, setting out the future of role of the PVCs in administration.
