File: Centre for Urban and Regional Research

Scope and Content

The Centre was an inter-disciplinary body, which researched various aspects of regional, economic and land-use planning. The Centre, established in 1966, was run by Professor J. Parry Lewis. It had a close relationship with the Department of Town and Country Planning, but also worked with staff in the departments of architecture, geography and the economics and social studies departments.

The file deals with the Centre's various research and consultancy projects on urban control systems, and urban simulation. There is also correspondence relating to its financing, and the circumstances leading to its closure in 1982.
