File: Lord (Ernest) Simon/Lady Simon

Scope and Content

Correspondence between the vice-chancellors of the University and Lord (Ernest) Simon of Wythenshawe, and his wife, Lady (Shena) Simon. Simon was one of the most significant lay figures in the University during the twentieth century, serving as treasurer and then chairman of Council (1941-1957). The correspondence reflects his concerns with specific matters relating to the University and with higher education policy in general, in which he had a great interest. His wife, Shena Simon, was a member of Council from 1920 to 1966.
