The Faculty of Economics and Social Studies [formerly the Faculty of Commerce] had oversight for the departments of accounting, economics, econometrics and social statistics, economic history, government, decision theory, social administration, social anthropology and sociology (information relating specifically to these departments can be found in the appropriate departmental files). The content of this file is mainly routine correspondence with the Dean of Faculty, and covers staff appointments and resignations. the administration of research grants received from external bodies. The file contains little information about faculty structure and organisation or on curriculum development, although there is a memorandum from 1973 dealing with the work of the Faculty sub-development committee (folder 10). Folder 11 deals with the involvement of Faculty staff with Sunningdale House, a hostel for foreign students. Folder 12 contains papers on a proposed crime survey in Greater Manchester to be funded by the Home Office, 1969-1970.
