File: UGC Grant Aid - the Green Book

Scope and Content

The Green Book was a report issued by the University in December 1981 as "Towards 1984 and beyond: some strategies for discussion". The Report explored longer-term developments in light of the expected continuing reductions in UGC grants. The Joint Committee on University Development (JCUD) appointed an Academic Planning Committee to oversee future planning in the academic departments, while a Sub-Committee on Staffing Arrangements in Academic Service and Administration looked at options for non-academic services. The Green Book proposed a package of economics and income-generating activities.
