The Joint Co-ordinating Committee was established in 1965 by the University, UMIST and the University of Salford (joined by Manchester Polytechnic in 1970) to discuss matters of common interest and to promote co-ordination of activities and common services The committee met yearly or twice-yearly until the late 1970s

Subjects discussed in the file include: metallurgy courses at Salford, appointments services, health services, computing services, radiological protection services, libraries, university governance, and provision for biochemistry and biomedical engineering.
