File: Department of Anatomy

Scope and Content

Papers relating to the department of anatomy at the University. From 1934-1937, J.S.B. Stopford served as both vice-chancellor and as professor of anatomy [he was first appointed to this chair in 1919]; some of the correspondence therefore relates to Stopford's work in this latter capacity. The majority of the material, however, relates to the staffing, equipment, teaching and research of the department under Stopford's successors, F. Wood Jones (professor from 1938-1945) and G.A.G. Mitchell (from 1945-1974).
