The Centre was created as the result of grants from Nuffield Provincial Hospitals Trust and the Rockefeller Foundation. It opened in June 1954. The papers include extensive correspondence between the various partners, legal issues, a typescript study of the state of general practice in 1949, cuttings relating to health centres in general, and plans of the Centre.
