Scope and Content

Papers concerning the visit of the National Radium Commission in 1938 to investigate radiotherapy facilities at Manchester hospitals (collectively known as the Manchester Centre of the Radium Commission), including correspondence concerning the report of the commissioners. Vice-chancellor Stopford was chairman of the management committee of Manchester Centre. There are also papers concerning plans to establish a radium clinic at Crewe Memorial hospital, which came under the purview of Manchester Centre.
