File: Department of History

Scope and Content

Papers relating to the Department of History. Nearly all of the material concerns routine administrative matters such as appointments and resignations, but the file includes correspondence with representatives of the Duke of Edinburgh regarding the Duke's assistance in gaining access to the papers of Matthew Boulton, then in private ownership, and an application for a research grant by Eric Robinson, a lecturer in the Department, to study the papers of John Clare at the New York Public Library.
