Papers relating to the department of anatomy which formed part of the School of Medicine. Most of the material is routine correspondence with the head of department, Professor G. A. G. Mitchell (1906-1993) and his colleagues, Eugenia Cooper and Roger Warwick (1913-1991). There is some interesting material relating to: the Department's use of cadavers for research work, including requests for death grants under the National Insurance Acts by relatives of donors; arrangements for the storage of cadavers at the Medical School and for the provision of burial grounds at local cemeteries; Professor Mitchell's views on the planned purchase of an electron microscope by the University and its possible uses for the department.
