Letter from James Rigby to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Rigby provides Owen with an account of the progress he has made with tasks carried out on Owen's behalf. This includes forwarding Owen a number of newspapers, one of which, the Morning News, is a "penny daily" brought out by the Morning Chronicle to rival the Daily Telegraph and "run it down".

Rigby provides Owen with his detailed view of the events in the "fight" between "Old mother Church and her rebellious children" [regarding Sunday usage] including an account of meeting where the "Parsons got put in their place".
