Letter from James Rigby to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter, in which Rigby informs Owen of the latest developments with the Panorama [depicting a model village] they are exhibiting at St. Martin's Hall [London]. Last night he and Mrs. Atkins got together a "good meeting", but only 7 shillings was made as those present were mainly "free orders". Mr Atkins was not told that most of those who attended did so for free, and he is "better spirits" today. In an attempt to boost numbers Rigby notes he has given over 500 "free orders".
