Letter from James Rigby to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Rigby provides an account of his progress carrying out tasks and errands on Owen's behalf.

Rigby urges Owen to concentrate his efforts on writing his "life" rather than publishing further copies of the [Millennial] Gazette and other works. He believes if Owen did so, it would provide a "much greater hit and produce a better effect" and allow the "Mass" [of people] who know little of Owen's achievements to think of him not just as some "visionary writer", but rather as a man who has done "practical good".
