Letter from James Rigby to Robert Owen

Archive Unit

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter arrangements for Owen's forthcoming birthday are discussed. A sub-committee appointed by the General Committee of the John Street Institute to carry out the arrangements have installed Charles Green as the Chair, and they are to arrange a party to take place at John Street. However, Rigby believes that some of Owen's wealthy followers may desire a venue more fitting to what they are "daily accustomed" and suggests the Whittington Club as being more appropriate.
