Letter from James Rigby to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter, in which the arrangements for Owen's birthday party at John Street Institute are discussed. Rigby explains that joining Owen on the platform will be Dr. [Henry] Travis, [William Pare], and Louis Blanc whilst others, the "little stars", will be in the gallery; from here their desire to "save the world" and bolster their "own fame" can be marshalled.

Rigby notes he has been "blamed as usual" for the failure to hold a dinner at the Whittington Club the day after the John Street event.
