Manuscript letter written on a printed notice announcing the formation of the Social Science League. In the letter, Rigby writes of the progress made in the case against a [Edward] Truelove for publishing a penny pamphlet with inflammatory content; an appearance at [Court] Sessions (at which few were present) led to Truelove being bailed again.

The printed notice announcing the formation of the Social Science League details the objects for the forming the Society and the terms of membership with all subscriptions to be made payable to James Rigby the Secretary of the Society, Lyons Inn, London.
