Letter from James Rigby to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Rigby provides Owen with a comprehensive update of the progress he has made with tasks carried out on his behalf. This includes challenging the reporter Murray for overcharging Owen for the report he wrote of the meeting [at John Street Institute], and trying to ascertain if Owen's Petition to the House of Lords had been presented as no mention was made in the press. Rigby explains he was told that it is the responsibility of the member presenting the Petition to make the press aware that the Petition has been presented.

Also present is a slip of paper with the annotated note confirming that Owen's Petition has been presented on the 21 May.
