Letter from James Rigby to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter, Rigby provides Owen with an update of progress made with tasks carried out on Owen's behalf. These include arranging the placement of advertisements in several newspapers and sending Owen a copy of the Co-operative Circular.

Rigby remarks on his disappointment with an article by Professor Huber in the Cooperative Circular as he expected it to be about Owen, but found it concerned cooperation in Huber's own country [Russia]. Nevertheless, it is interesting to know how the Emperor of Russia and Crown Prince of Russia "have assisted in their own way of carrying out progress".

The letter closes with brief mention made of a dispute [concerning John Street Institute] between [Charles] Green and [Ernest] Jones.
