Letter from James Rigby to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Rigby provides Owen with a comprehensive update of the progress he has made with tasks carried out on Owen's behalf. This includes having several meetings with Baron Corvaja, who he found very difficult to understand and would consider it a waste of time were he not sure that "he is sincere and desires to do good".

Rigby provides Owen with an update of the latest news regarding Pierre Baume and the proposed sale of his estate at Colney Hatch. He also provides an update regarding [Thomas] Atkins' Panorama [depicting a model village] explaining that while it is doing better in Birmingham than it ever did in London it is still not doing as well as was expected.
