Letter from [Jarnac?] to Hugo

Scope and Content

Autograph letter to Hugo. The writer regrets not having found him at home as he is anxious to continue the acquaintance begun two days before and to enjoy the goodwill that Hugo has extended to other members of his family. As a token of his esteem he sends Hugo a Napoleonic relic, a stone taken by Jarnac from Napoleon's grave at St. Helena during the exhumation in 1840.

Jarnac is unidentified.
