Letter from Jean Jacques Auguste Weiss (1827-1891) to Hugo

Scope and Content

Autograph letter to Hugo stating that the writer has received Mr. Soulié's letter. He thanks Hugo for his help, (presumably in arranging for Girardin to accept regular articles from him), asks him to tell Girardin that he accepts his terms and will contribute four articles a month. He expresses his pleasure at the recovery from illness of Hugo's daughter.

Weiss was a French journalist, historian, and archivist at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
