Letter from Antoine Fortuné de Brack (1789-1850) to Hugo

Scope and Content

Autograph letter to Hugo inviting him to attend a military display. De Brack was made a field-marshal in August, 1838 and afterwards was appointed commandant of the school of cavalry at Saumur.

Brack was a French cavalry officer. He served in every major battle from Wagram (1807) to Waterloo (1815). He lived in the Place des Vosges, next to Hugo's apartment.
