Scope and Content

Autograph letter to Hugo from a former singer at the Opéra Comique, who has suffered penury and hardship after having been an unsuccessful director of the theatres of Toulouse and a valiant rescuer of the wounded in the February Revolution. He asks Hugo to support his plea for help addressed to the Minister of the Interior.

Boullard was a French singer at the Opéra Comique (1828-1835). Later he worked in Rouen (1839), Brussels (1840), Ghent (1842), and Cambrai (1846).
