Letter from Amédée Pichot (1795-1877) to Hugo

Scope and Content

Autograph letter to Hugo accompanying a copy (not included) of the 4th edition of the writer's Histoire de Charles-Edouard. Pichot recalls that in the 1st edition, fifteen years before, he had cited Hugo's apostrophe to Holyrood Palace and adds that he has never ceased to admire Hugo's work.

Written on the headed paper of La Revue Britannique.

Pichot was a French historian, novelist, translator, and journalist at the Revue Britannique, Mercure du XIXe and Revue de Paris.
