Autograph letter to Hugo asking him how the writer and a friend who is the grandson of a former colleague of Hugo's in the Chambre des Pairs, could outwit the censorship and send him their poems.

Marked 'r' (répondu) in Hugo's hand.

Pontécoulant was a French lawyer, grandson of Louis-Gustave Doulcet de Pontécoulant (1764-1853), deputy to the Convention, and son of Philippe Gustave (1796-1874).
