Letter from Gustave Darnay de la Perrière (1814-1837) to Hugo

Scope and Content

Autograph letter to Hugo inviting him and Mme Hugo to the performance of a work by Darnay and Honoré de Sussy. Changes demanded by the musician and the singers have ruined the work, he says, but he is still most anxious that Hugo should see it performed.

Darnay was a minor French playwright, who wrote with de Sussy Les Captives in 1835 and Alice in 1837. Cf. his biography on La Tribune de l'Art.
