Letter from Armand Emmanuel Lebailly (1838-1864) to Hugo

Scope and Content

Autograph letter to Hugo from a young former political exile asking if Hugo has received a copy of his work Italia Mia, which was inspired by the ideas of Hugo and which the writer had sent to him before leaving France for a visit to the Channel Islands. After expressing his delight about Hugo's speech at the Jersey meeting in support of Garibaldi the writer passes on to him the good wishes of Laurent Pichat and Ernest Legouvé.

Lebailly was a French poet.
