Scope and Content

A poem entitled Guernesey, dedicated to Hugo, in which reflections on Hugo's exile in the island close with an allusion to the nearness of Harfleur and the tomb of Hugo's daughter Léopoldine.

Richard was a French poet who studied at the Lycée Charlemagne, where he was known for having written a satirical poem against Prince Jérome Bonaparte at an academic competition. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 20.
