Letter from Jeanne Bernardine Planchy de Monvallon, widow Campenon, to Hugo

Scope and Content

Autograph letter to Hugo. The writer thanks him for his visit the day before and is grateful that Hugo will grace the forthcoming ceremony in honour of her late husband; she adds a list of his "other prose works". (At Saint-Marc Girardin's reception into the Académie Française on 16 January 1845, Hugo delivered a eulogy of Campenon's works).

Planchy de Monvallon was the widow of Vincent Campenon (1772-1843), French poet and writer who entered the Académie Française in 1813.
