Correspondence with Jacques Boucher de Crèvecœur de Perthes (1788-1868)

Scope and Content

Boucher had a career in the customs administration, but he is more known as the father of prehistoric archaeology. His findings led him to challenge Ussher's chronology by saying that Man existed long before the Flood, hence the name of his famous book: De l'homme antédiluvien (The Antediluvian Man) published between 1846 and 1864.
