Autograph letter to Hugo written after the reconciliation in 1836, when he and Hugo were hoping to open a second Théâtre-Français.

Marked 'r' (répondu) in Hugo's hand.

Dumas was one of the most famous novelists of the century, thanks to the Three Musketeers (1844) and Count of Monte Cristo (1844-6). He had a difficult friendship with Hugo.

Bought from Loliée on 2 August 1962 for 430 francs with eight letters from Hugo.
