Autograph letter to Hugo announcing that the Athénée Royal, re-established by the comte de Castellane, has chosen Les Burgraves as the subject of the opening lecture for which the writer sends him tickets.

Hippeau was a French teacher of Literature at the University of Caen (1847-1868). He mentions that he is the secretary of the theatre l'Athénée Royal in 1843.
