Correspondence with Ferdinand de Grammont (1805-1889)

Scope and Content

Grammont was an old French noble family. The letters are just signed "F. de Grammont", but it was probably Ferdinand, son of Théodule de Grammont (1766-1841). Grammont was an important deputy of the Haute-Saône, where he won ten consecutive legislative elections under four regimes between 1839 and 1871, a staggering longevity at the time. He was also a poet and friend of Balzac.
