Autograph letter to Hugo. Kossbühl expresses his admiration for Les Burgraves of which he has just read one of the first copies and offers to make Hugo a translation of a ballad he has just discovered by Rückert containing the "récit populaire" from the First Part of the play.

Kossbühl was a publisher settled in Paris. His publishing house was named Cabinet de lecture allemande de J.J. Kossbühl.
