Dr Ahuja studied medicine t Patna University, India, qualifying in 1966. He took the diploma of child health at the University of London in 1970. He was a consultant paeditrician at Wigan Health Authority from 1978 until retirement. He was also honorary lecturer in paeditrics at the University of Manchester.
