Letter from Frank Miles [George Francis Miles] to William Robinson

Scope and Content

No address. Manuscript

He thanks Robinson for 'The Wild Garden'; Robinson must do some views of his pond with its nympheas for an additional chapter on aquatics; they are ready for Robinson's artist, but it seems a pity to do this when the garden is not at its best; views in March then the same views in July would be best; this would refute Fish's [D.T. Fish, head gardener at Hardwicke House, Suffolk] idea that no border exists such as Robinson described; next summer the lilies will be better than either of them has ever seen, and his great fritillary collection will be fine

Undated [c.1881; Fish's article was published in 'The Gardener' in 1881 (page 72-75)]
