Letter from Lord Edward Cavendish to Spencer Compton Cavendish, Marquess of Hartington

Scope and Content

Lord Cavendish writes concerning his movements and meetings that have been arranged for every evening until the [General] Election. He further writes that he has "not a notion how it will go" [the election], commenting that the Conservatives seem very confident. He finally writes concerning the financial position of the Duke of Devonshire with no dividends coming from "Barrow" [Furness Railway] and tenant allowances having to be made.
