SCC writes concerning Herbert Gladstone's interview with the National Press Agency ['Harwarden Kite' affair. He writes that the Manager of the Agency and the Editor-in-Chief asserts that they consider "that they were giving expression to Mr Herbert Gladstone's personal opinion of his father's views". He further writes that he feels that "in some form or another an Irish Debate will arise" making it impossible for "those who are in favour of maintaining the legislative union as it exists to abstain from re-asserting their opinions". He further writes that he assumes Mr Gladstone has seen "the paragraph in the Times about the telegram to the New York Tribune which is probably a forgery". Sent from: Devonshire House, London.
