SCC writes to Gladstone regarding the Bill on the Irish Church as he cannot attend the Cabinet meeting. He writes that it is unduly favourable to the Irish Church and landlords. He writes that the compensation for life interests means that the Church Trust gets the difference and he believes compensation should be provided in a more direct way. He writes that the indirect recognition of rights of congregations will lead to great difficulties. He reports that the landlords will have nothing to gain and nothing to lose. There is an endorsement written on the back of the letter in black ink which reads " Feb 12/69 Letter to W. Gladstone Irish Ch. Date stamped, 12 Feb.
