Scope and Content

Ponsonby telegrams SCC regarding the request of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales to join the Egyptian expedition. He reports that Queen Victoria is opposed and requests SCC's opinion. He writes that Prince George, Duke of Cambridge and Sir Garnet Wolseley approve. There is a note on the telegram which reads, "in cipher."Sent from: [Osborne], date stamped, 27 July.
