SCC writes to Morier regarding the French Field Marshall, François Achille Bazaine's appeal for financial assistance. He writes that the War Office does not have any funds available for this purpose and recommends that Bazaine makes enquiries to any officers that he served alongside during Crimea for private assistance. There is an endorsement written in black ink, which reads, "15th June '83, Copy of reply to Sir R. Morier. Marshal Bazaine's appeal. Sent from: London, date stamped, 14 June.
