He writes that Queen Victoria hopes a fair compromise can be reached but is disappointed by the language used by some Liberal politicians regarding the opposition. He writes that the Queen wishes that SCC discuss a compromise with Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury, the leader of the opposition as he has adopted a conciliatory tone throughout proceedings.
