Scope and Content

Lord Spencer writes to SCC regarding his disappointment at the Cabinet's decision to not adopt Chichester Parkinson-Fortescue's motion on Ireland as they are too focused on the Land Bill. He writes that he is willing to resign his position as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland over the matter. There is an endorsement on the letter written in black ink which reads "3rd February 1870 The Earl Spencer does not agree with the Cabinet". Sent from: Dublin, date stamped, 3 Feb.
