Richard Pomfret Jepson, d.1980

Dick Jepson was a medical graduate of the University of Manchester. He served in the Army until 1947, working at its Neurosurgical Centre. He returned to Manchester and was a member of the surgical professorial unit of Professor Alexander Boyd. He was appointed a consultant surgeon to the MRI, and was lecturer then reader in surgery at the University. In 1954 Jepson was made professor of surgery at Sheffield University. In 1958 he moved to Adelaide, Australia to become professor of surgery and honorary surgeon to the Royal Adelaide and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals. In 1970 he left Adelaide University to go into private practice. Jepson died on 19 October 1980 aged 62.
