MB Edin 1870, MD 1875; FRCS Eng 1876.

Lediard studied medicine in Edinburgh and London and held junior appointments at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, MRI and the Central London Sick Asylum. In 1880 Lediard was appointed assistant surgeon to the Cumberland Infirmary where he served for fifty years until his retirement in 1930. Lediard contributed some reminiscences of his time at MRI in Manchester University Medical Students Gazette, March 1909. Lediard died on 31 October 1932, aged 84.
