graduated MB ChB at Manchester in 1916 following a distinguished undergraduate academic career. He served with the RAMC during the First World War, and worked as a surgeon at Ancoats Hospital and SMH. Panton was a honorary anaesthetist and honorary surgeon at Southport Infirmary. He was a member of Manchester Medical Society and MSS.
