Administrative / Biographical History

Haworth studied chemistry at the University of Manchester, taking a B.Sc in 1910 and a M.Sc in 1911. He took a medical degree in 1920. He worked briefly at St Thomas Hospital, London, before being appointed lecturer in chemical pathology at Manchester. He was due to move to the University of Leeds when he died of septicaemia following an accident received while doing a post-mortem at the MRI.
