MB ChB Manch 1920.

Leather was born in Boston, Lancashire, on 11 September 1896, the son of Earnest Leather, a chiropodist. Leather received his medical education at Manchester and held junior appointments at MRI and Barnes Convalescent Home before being appointed honorary assistant surgeon to Bolton Royal Infirmary, a position he held from 1923 to 1938 when he was promoted to honorary surgeon. In 1948, with the advent of the NHS, Leather was made consulting surgeon, and in 1961 became honorary consulting surgeon. Leather retired in 1966. He was a fellow of Manchester Medical Society and Bolton Medical Society. His son John Graham Leather also qualified in medicine and practised in Bolton.
